| Continuity of consciousness |

| Within humanity today a growing number of people are achieving continuity of consciousness and are thus retaining the experiences of the sleep state. This makes for faster evolution as no time is lost in waiting for the filtering down of information to the brain to take place. It also ensures the reception of more accurate information leading to more correct action and results. |
| This is the way forward for humanity. Until now, the break in consciousness between the waking and sleeping states has proved an obstacle to large scale advance. More than anything else, it has kept humanity in ignorance of the true nature of reality, and, consequently, in superstition and fear. |
| Nearly a third of life is spent asleep and much information is given and received during that period. Many are the experiences which may be had and known, enriching the life of every individual. Never before, on a large scale, has the opportunity been present for a gradual shift in consciousness to take place. Already, a large group stands ready to achieve this continuity, lacking only the practical techniques for its achievement. |
| Soon, steps will be taken to make more known and available the information already given on this subject. Much has been imparted which awaits study and application; few, today, realize the treasure-chest of instruction which has been recorded and published. |
| Mental polarization is the key to this achievement. Correct alignment of the astral and physical bodies provides the basis on which mental polarization can gradually be built. This achieved, continuity of consciousness naturally unfolds. There are, of course, degrees of this achievement and the process covers a considerable period of time. |
| Much has been written about the need for spiritual detachment. This quality most readily provides the field for the correct interpretation of phenomena and information carried over from the sleep state. Otherwise, despite continuous consciousness, much distortion can ensue. |
| Spiritual detachment results from decentralization. Through service and correct meditation, the orientation of the disciple shifts from his limited self to the not-self. This begets a state of divine indifference in which desire subsides and the true, inner man can appear. |
| With his appearance, the way is open for continuity of consciousness to begin. Safely, the out-of-body experience can be correctly registered and known, and a new chapter opened in the life of the disciple. The Halls of Learning or of Wisdom become his conscious fields of knowledge, depending on his level on the Path. |
| So far, we have discussed only the continuity of consciousness between the sleep and waking states. A further expansion of awareness awaits the disciple who can bridge the gap between the two great areas of experience to which we give the names of life and death. |
| Life alone exists. Death is but the name for another level of experience of life, continuous and unbroken except in man’s limited consciousness. The time is coming in which the experience we call death, the intervening period, and the return to outer manifestation will be recalled in full consciousness by man. Then will man lose the fear of death and reap the harvest of the inner planes of knowledge and bliss in total awareness of his true identity as a Son of God. |

| Q. What happens to the soul when we die? |
|
| A. When the physical body dies (we say ‘dies’ but there is no such thing as death), it withers away – and is either buried or, preferably, cremated. There are three permanent atoms of that body that are kept intact, that are never destroyed – one atom from each vehicle: one from the physical, one from the astral-emotional body, and the mental permanent atom. These three permanent atoms provide the continuity from life to life. The soul is making the journey: it is not only the parents who are involved in the creation of a new body but the soul that creates the baby in the womb and through the permanent atoms grows the physical, astral and mental equipment of its new vehicle. The new vehicle is related to the old vehicle through the permanent atoms but it is a new body altogether. The previous personality of you is gone; it is not the same person who has incarnated, but it is the soul which incarnates over and over. (Share International, July/August 2014) |

Plans to Eliminate Deforestation in the Amazon
|
|
|
Restoring the health of the environment is one of Maitreya's key priorities. In June 2023, Brazil's President Lula de Silva unveiled his plan to join forces with neighboring countries to eliminate deforestation in the Amazon by 2030. In a speech on the event to launch the plan, Lula said “I'm committed to resuming Brazil's global leadership in mitigating climate change and controlling deforestation.” His plan, which includes strengthening law enforcement alongside the implementation of other monitoring and assessment tools, is called The Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Deforestation in the Amazon (PPCDAm) and includes the use of intelligence and satellite imagery to track criminal activity, regularization of land titles and use of a rural registry to monitor correct management of forests considered vital for slowing global climate change. It will be coordinated policy set across more than a dozen ministries and will continue at least through to the end of Lula's term in 2027.

Interesting to note, this plan was created 20 years ago, during Lula’s first term, and was largely responsible for curbing deforestation by 83% between 2004 and 2012. The plan was suspended during his predecessor's (Bolsonaro) time in office but since its re-implementation has already led to a reduction in deforestation by 34%. “The rainforest is neither a void that needs occupying nor a treasure trove to be looted. It is a flowerbed of possibilities that must be cultivated,” Lula stated when addressing a group of South American leaders which included the presidents of fellow Amazon nations Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, as well as the prime minister of Guyana and Venezuela’s vice-president.

| When we have continuity of consciousness we will remember [our earlier lives], but we do not have continuity of consciousness, even from the sleeping to the waking state. We might remember a few dreams, but that is really the activity of the astral-emotional body in shallow sleep. In deep sleep we do not dream at all; it is only as our sleep gets more shallow, as we are emerging out of deep sleep, that we begin to dream, and these dreams we may remember. For the most part we do not remember what happens during deep sleep. Likewise, we do not remember from life to death to life again. Eventually, we will enter the death state completely consciously, know who and what we are and why we are there and what we are doing, and then come back, equally consciously. As you become more advanced in the evolutionary process, this is what happens. |
| At the end of the evolutionary process, the initiates of the world, who are consciously undergoing the process of evolution, eventually develop continuity of consciousness. They come in because they know the Plan of evolution. They come in to carry out that Plan, and not only because of karmic necessity – although there will be some karmic necessity. |

Since the inception of Emergence work in North America in late 1980 (and earlier in Europe), bi-lingual co-workers representing many languages have translated and distributed our information. Foremost among the languages has been Spanish, with North America having the fifth largest Spanish-speaking population in the world. These grassroots efforts were greatly augmented by the early formation of an official Spanish organization (Share Ediciones) in Barcelona and their translation of Benjamin Creme's books and a regular edition of Share International magazine into Spanish. The body of information in the Spanish language has grown steadily over the years and much is now available in electronic form for easier sharing.

The latest addition is Spanish subtitles for the two-part video “The Path to a New Era” produced by Share International Network Japan and hosted by Dr. Yasuyuki Nemoto and our co-worker, Michiko Ishikawa. The English-language version of these videos was made available via this newsletter in April 2023. These videos relate in a simple way the fact of Maitreya’s Reappearance, his priorities, and where we are headed as humanity.

On September 16th and 17th the Vancouver group will be participating in "World of Love Carnival," a two-day multicultural Fest with a great diversity of participants and located in a beautiful park in Coquitlam, just 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
|
|
Then, starting September 24th and on the last Sunday of each successive month, the group will be having presentations at Vancouver’s Roundhouse Community Centre. The event will have both Reappearance and TM sections.

They are also taking part in the "Car Free Day" event which, as its name indicates, takes place on the streets, where ten to twelve blocks are closed to traffic and filled with booths and tables.
